Buttock lipofilling, procedure:

As part of a preoperative consultation, a complete analysis of the donor areas (or steatomerism) will be necessary. It will also be necessary to assess the gluteal morphology, the quality of the skin and the suppleness of the tissues. The operation is performed under general anesthesia and lasts approximately 1 to 2 hours. In the operating room, the plastic surgeon removes the fat from the donor areas such as the belly, thighs, or hips. Then, the quantity of fat will be purified by centrifugation, decantation or simple washing. The purpose of these maneuvers is to be able to separate good quality fat cells from impurities (blood, serum, cell debris).

The third stage of surgery will be its reinjection into the buttocks, using small incisions and fine cannulas. This reinjection will be done gently, with an amount adapted to each case, in the appropriate zones allowing to give the best possible gluteal morphology. The operation ends with the fitting of a compression panty. This surgery is done on an outpatient basis or may require 24 hour hospitalization.

Recovery and result:

On leaving the operating room, moderate pain is felt for a few hours, and is relieved by painkillers. Bruises will appear on the donor regions and will disappear after 2 weeks. The edemas develop during the first week and begin to regress gradually. The stable volume is obtained at 3 to 6 months. In fact, there is a gradual melting of the fat which occurs during the first months (70% of the injected cells will survive).

Conclusions:

In terms of buttock augmentation, it is now the gold standard. Indeed, this technique has improved considerably and developed in recent years. It achieves better results than gluteal implants in the medium and long term, without any scar. It does not require any foreign body, so it does not cause any long-term complications, no need to change prostheses and no rejection problems. Its only limit of use is the amount of fat available to the patient.
